This programme is based upon a talk given by Prof Chris Budd to A level students at a comprehensive school, and was recorded in the school's lecture theatre in front of a live audience. Chris introduces the mathematical concept of 'Chaos' through the development of population modelling, with illustrations ranging from a chaotic pendulum to a plastic duck race.
Location sequences of the duck race, cloud patterns and other examples in the natural world accompany the talk to make a rewarding and visually rich educational resource.
There's a special introduction by Chris Budd for teachers to set the talk in the context of the maths curriculum.
